I, for someone who reads a lot of wooks, e/ibooks and wattpad (I can not go to sleep without reading a single page on wattpad.)
For what I have noticed, wattpad can definitely improve your reading comprehension but this depends of what books you are reading. To be honest there are some books made by not so good authors who makes awful storylines and cringe worthy grammar, what hurts is that many people read these kinds of books and enjoy them. Those kinds of books may not improve your reading comprehension and maybe degrade it because you will not only be able to adapt weird awful grammar but the usage of other languages or abbreviations. Your mind may not take those things very well and it may just scan or skip through the words. That can happen. Still Wattpad can help teens to widen or have a broader sense when it comes to reading. It just depends of the book and the authors.

However, idealistic is not quite as bad, realistic means settling for something practical and basic which is just pragmatic.
