Luke 13:1-9 reflection

1. Luke 13:1-9 reflection

Answer:

Because we were planted, we were supposed to bear fruit. If we don't, we'll be permanently cut down. Now comes the stage where we bear fruit, which is similar to repentance for our misdeeds. God will "tear us down" if we do not repent for our misdeeds.

6. Road to emmaus narrative in luke 24:13-35 reflection

Answer:

Luke 24:13...35

The Word of God

Now on that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem, and talking with each other about all these things that had happened. While they were talking and discussing, Jesus himself came near and went with them, but their eyes were kept from recognizing him. And he said to them, "What are you discussing with each other while you walk along?" They stood still, looking sad. Then one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answered him, "Are you the only stranger in Jerusalem who does not know the things that have taken place there in these days?" He asked them, "What things?" They replied, "The things about Jesus of Nazareth, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people, ..." "Oh, how foolish you are, and how slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have declared! Was it not necessary that the Messiah should suffer these things and then enter into his glory?" Then beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he interpreted to them the things about himself in all the scriptures. As they came near the village to which they were going, he walked ahead as if he were going on. But they urged him strongly, saying, "Stay with us, because it is almost evening and the day is now nearly over." So he went in to stay with them.

7. what us the reflection in luke 1:26-38

Luke 1:26-38

The Word of God

In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town in Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin's name was Mary. And he came to her and said, "Greetings, favoured one! The Lord is with you." But she was much perplexed by his words and pondered what sort of greeting this might be. The angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favour with God. And now, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you will name him Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give to him the throne of his ancestor David. He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end." Mary said to the angel, "How can this be, since I am a virgin?" The angel said to her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be holy; he will be called Son of God. And now, your relative Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son; and this is the sixth month for her who was said to be barren. For nothing will be impossible with God." Then Mary said, "Here am I, the servant of the Lord; let it be with me according to your word." Then the angel departed from her.

11. reflection luke 14:1, 7-14

Gospel Reflection September 1, 2019 | 22nd Sunday in ordinary time

In Luke 14:1, 7-14, Jesus was telling a parable about a person who was invited to a party and sat at the high table. But he told by the host to sat at the low table and he was embarrassed. The other person, sat at the low table and he was noticed by the host and told him "My friend, move to a higher position".

In the parable, Jesus teaches us to humbles ourselves because those who are full of pride will be humbled and those who are humble will be promoted and those who have a proud heart can't worship the Lord because his heart is full of pride. If a person has a humble heart, he knows how to prostrate and worship the Lord.

Pray this ejaculatory prayer:

"Jesus, meek and humble of heart, teach my heart how to be like yours."

14. Reflection Luke 1, 7-14

Answer:

Explanation:

In Luke 14:1, 7-14, the social matrix of first-century life is on display, and we hear Jesus speak into this matrix both with communal wisdom and unexpected, even astonishing, advice. We hear the setting for the story in 14:1. It is the Sabbath, and Jesus is invited to a meal at the house of a leading Pharisee. After an interlude in which Luke narrates Jesus healing a man and defending that Sabbath healing, Luke focuses on the meal scene, a setting he strategically employs in his gospel (e.g., 5:29; 7:36; 11:37; see also 7:34; 15:1-2).Jesus observes "how the guests chose the places of honor" during the meal (14:7). According to Luke, his response is twofold. He begins by telling a parable. The story's point is to discourage his audience from seeking the most prestigious seat at the table (prtoklisia) in order to avoid the humiliating situation of being displaced by someone of greater prominence (14:8). Instead, they are to take the lowest seat so that their host can elevate them to a more honorable seat (14:10). The well-known aphorism is Jesus' summary comment to the parable: "For all who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted" (14:11).

19. Reflection to luke 1 39:56

In the verse Luke 1:39-56, This is where Mary visits Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting to her, the baby in Elizabeth's womb leaped with joy. Mary's song or the Magnificat.

We could see how Mary is happy and praises God for choosing her as the bearer of the Messiah. Mary-pregnant with the Messiah-walked 112 kilometers just to visit her cousin still she is delighted to serve others. In this way she glorifies the Lord in reflecting (and “magnifying”) His goodness and love.

Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen once referred to our Blessed Mother as being like “a magnifying glass that intensifies our love of her Son.” In this regard, the Magnificat is more than a prayer of praise. It also reminds us about the essential link between humility and holiness. In the gospel today, we're taught by the parable of Christ to humble ourselves because those that are proud of themselves, will be humbled and those who are humble will be promoted.

Answer:

22. Reflection of Luke 13:6-9"The Parable of the Barren Fig Tree" :more than 4 sentences:

Answer:

The parable of the barren fig tree is set alongside Jesus' condemnation of the temple. He is essentially using it to act our what will happen to the temple. Jesus judges the fig tree and the temple for lack of fruitfulness, and the fig tree is withered. The implication is that the temple will also be destroyed.

Christ’s curse is a foreshadowing of what will happen to hypocrites — those Christians who, like the fig trees with leaves, promise fruit but fail to deliver.

As Christians we must live consistently with what we say we believe. An unbelieving world is watching us; therefore, let it only see those who practice what they preach.

Jesus’ words, at the Beginning of his ministry until he became popular is something very important, He did not waste his time, he was working day and night to preach the gospel. He told the people in the synagogue that He is anointed by the Spirit of the Lord and He cares for the poor and those who are looked down upon.  And that the Lord is always loving, by proclaiming the ‘year of the Lord’s favor.
